Mechanical transmission is widely used in mechanical engineering, mainly referring to the transmission of power and motion through mechanical means. It can be divided into two categories: friction transmission that relies on the frictional force between machine parts to transmit power, and meshing transmission that relies on the engagement between the active and passive parts or the use of intermediate parts to transmit power or motion.


There are various forms of mechanical transmission, which can be mainly divided into two categories:


 ① Friction transmission that relies on the frictional force between machine parts to transmit power and motion, including belt transmission, rope transmission, and friction wheel transmission. Friction transmission is easy to achieve continuously variable transmission and can mostly adapt to transmission situations with large shaft spacing. Overloading and slipping can also act as a buffer and protection for the transmission device, but this type of transmission is generally not suitable for high-power situations and cannot guarantee accurate transmission ratios.


 ② Gear transmission, chain transmission, spiral transmission, and harmonic transmission are meshing transmissions that transmit power or motion through the engagement of active and passive components or through the engagement of intermediate components. Mesh transmission can be used in high-power applications with accurate transmission ratios, but generally requires high manufacturing and installation accuracy.
