These are elastomer in compression type couplings. A single piece elastomer (Spider type, Snap-wrap type coupling) is used for low to medium power applications, while individual elastomeric elements are used for high power application (T cushion type coupling). Jaw coupling is a failsafe design, designed for positive torque transmission. The couplings means low mass moment of inertia. The elastomeric component provides torsional flexibility and damping to the system reduces the effect of vibrations and operational shocks. This coupling is capable of compensating for angular, parallel and axial misalignments.
